The Backcountry Wilderness Area’s educational programming brings to life the concepts that you introduce in your classroom. We offer educational programming on our conservation property as well as on-site: whether that be your schoolyard, a local park, or in your classroom. We address a wide range of environmental topics and can customize any program to fit your curriculum needs. All programs are designed to aid teachers in helping their students achieve state science standards.

Backcountry Basecamp Programs
Our Backcountry Basecamp (6005 Ron King Trail, Littleton, 80125) serves as a hub for school field trips. Located in the heart of our 13-square-mile conservation property, students will engage in an area of great wildlife diversity including elk, bobcats, bears, and golden eagles. These programs are available September through May.
Let us bring the Backcountry to you! Our classroom programs emphasize hands-on, nature-based science inquiry and are available year round for schools, community groups, and camps.
Park and Schoolyard Programs
Our park and schoolyard programs are experiential lessons to get your students moving around in an outdoor setting near you. These programs are available year round for schools, community groups, and camps.
Scout leaders! Are you working on a badge or patch and need to fulfill a special requirement? Let us know your group’s particular needs and we can tailor a nature hike or program to meet your needs.
