Backcountry Parties

Our parties are naturally fun!

Let your little explorer spend his/her big day in the Backcountry! You pick the theme (choices below) and we tailor a party to what your birthday kid loves most! Whether they love bugs, ponies, unicorns, or just being outdoors, we’ll put on a celebration to remember!


Princess Unicorn



Put on your best dress and your hiking boots and come see our very own unicorns, Bella and Buster! Guests will enjoy a meet and greet with the unicorns before heading out to explore the kingdom and look for other magical creatures.

Camo Adventure



Come dressed in camo and ready to explore! We’ll paint faces, build hideout shelters, learn how animals use camouflage to survive, and play a camouflage game in the woods to see if you’re as well hidden as the animals.

Creature Feature: Add a 30-minute live animal presentation featuring birds of prey or reptiles and their clever camouflage for $95.

Age Recommendation: 8-12

Pony Party



If your child asks for a pony for his or her birthday, here’s your chance to make it happen! Guests will enjoy unlimited pony rides for the first hour of the party as well as games that are sure to get them horsin’ around!

Age Recommendation: 4-10
Cost: 1 Pony $275; 2 ponies $300.
Capacity: 15 kids with 1 pony, 25 kids with 2 ponies


*NEW* Woodland Fairies or Gnomes



There's magic in the woods ... you just need to take a closer look. Fluttering fairies and peeking gnomes frequent the Backcountry's dense woods and we'll explore the forest in search of the tiny creatures. Once we find a good spot, the birthday kid and his/her friends will build fairy or gnome homes in the woods for them to find! 

Fairy or Gnome Take Home Add-On: For $45, include a toy fairy or gnome for each participant that will be used throughout the party and then serves as a special party favor!

The Backcountry's resident party animals want in on your child's big day! Our donkey, chickens, and goats provide entertainment as the other birthday guests get to meet, brush, and learn about our barnyard crew. We'll round out the party with old farm games everyone will enjoy!

Wild for Wildlife



Calling all party animals! Become a nature detective and learn all about the wild animals that call the Backcountry home. Search for signs of wildlife from insects to mountain lions. Come ready to let your wild side show!

Creature Feature: Add a 30-minute live animal presentation about Colorado wildlife featuring birds of prey or reptiles for $95

Start your child's new year with a burst of nature-inspired art! Each birthday party attendee will make a unique piece of art chosen by the birthday girl/boy. Choose from the following options: wood painting (a mountain landscape or ponderosa pine tree sunset), string art (feather or cactus), or plant and paint (paint a unique terracotta pot that you can watch grow long after the party is over). Beyond a fresh air take on birthday party fun, the art each child brings home will beat any goodie bag!

Horse-Drawn Hayride


This birthday party is on a roll! Venture out into the Backcountry by a rustic horse-drawn hayride. Once out of bounds, there will be opportunity to explore the woods and fields or simply relax and enjoy the striking scenery that surrounds.

Details For All Parties:


Times: Times: All parties are two hours in length. You may choose from the following time slots: 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m., 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Ages: 
Our parties are recommended for children ages 4-12. See each party description for specific age recommendations.

Capacity: See each party description for maximum capacity. Parents are welcome to stay and are not included in the head count (exception: hayrides).

Activities: The first 90 minutes of your party will be led by our naturalists/wranglers and will include the activities or games mentioned in the party description. The last 30 minutes of the party are the responsibly of the host family. This is a great opportunity to eat cake or other food/drinks and open presents.

Decorations: We provide and set up basic decorations and themed tablecloths. You are welcome to bring additional decorations to set up, but please keep in mind the wind can be a factor in setting up delicate decorations. We do NOT allow balloons, piñatas, or glitter due to their potential for litter and impact on wildlife.

Food and Drink: We will have a water cooler filled for your use—please ask that your guests bring a reusable water bottle to use. Outside food and drink are welcome (with the exception of alcohol). We do not have any refrigeration services available and recommend using coolers for items that need to remain cold. We do NOT provide any tableware or utensils.

Set up and Clean up: Our staff will set up the table cloths and basic decorations. Host families are welcome to arrive 30 minutes before the party start time to set up their own food or additional decorations. We ask that you sort your trash and recycling appropriately and ask our staff if you are unsure of what is recyclable. Our staff will take care of basic clean up and removal of the trash and recycling.

What to Wear: All guests MUST wear closed toe shoes. Our birthday parties run rain or shine, so be sure guests dress appropriately for the weather. We will be active and outdoors so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes that can get a little dirty.

Pricing: All party prices are listed above. Parties must be paid in full at the time of booking to secure reservation.
  • Campfire and S’mores Add-On: For $50, you can add on a campfire (pending fire restrictions) and s’mores for all participants to any party. 
  • Creature Feature Add-On: For $95, you can add on a creature feature to any party. We recommend pairing the creature feature with our Wild for Wildlife and Camo Adventure parties.
  • Toy Fairy or Gnome Add-On: For $45, you can include a toy fairy or gnome for each participant of the Woodland Fairies/Gnomes party that will be used throughout the party and then serves as a special party favor.

Weather: Our birthday parties run rain, snow, or shine with the exception of excessive rain, heavy snow, lightening, or temperatures below 25 degrees. Refunds will not be issued for inclement weather. In the event of heavy rain, heavy snow, or temperatures below 25 degrees, we will contact you to reschedule your party. (Hayride only: If roads conditions do not allow for they hayride, we will contact you to reschedule your party. Refunds will not be issued for poor road conditions.) If a thunderstorm delays the planned activities for more than 1 hour, we will work with you to reschedule your party. If 30 or fewer minutes of the party remain when a thunderstorm moves in, your party is considered completed. We reserve the right to make decisions regarding weather and safety of participants. 

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made more than 7 days in advance of the party will be refunded minus a $50 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be given for cancellations made fewer than 7 days before the scheduled party. We reserve the right to modify or terminate any party to accommodate unforeseen circumstances. In said event, every attempt will be made to notify the planner as soon as possible. If a mutually agreeable alternative date/time cannot be agreed upon by the planner and the BWA, a full refund will be offered.
