Camp Backcountry - Parent Resources

Registration Information

Paperwork

Registration paperwork is needed for all of our camp sessions in addition to session registration. Once you’ve registered, please check your email for an invitation to fill out the paperwork. All of our paperwork is now paperless through a company called ePACT. If you have never used ePACT, you will be directed to create an account, and will then be able to provide the requested information about your child(ren). If your child(ren) were in camp last year and you already created an ePACT account, you will be directed to update info and fill out 2019 waivers. For questions regarding registration and paperwork please call 303-471-8876 or email CampBackcountry@hrcaonline.org.

All paperwork is due by May 1st.
If you register after May 1, paperwork is due within a week of registration. Campers may not attend camp without completed paperwork; no exceptions.

Waitlists
If a session that you are interested in is full, you may register for the waitlist at no cost. If a spot becomes available, we will contact you as soon as we can. We will only hold waitlist spots for three days after we contact you.

Our Team

Camp Backcountry is great because of its staff and counselors who are always actively engaged in teaching and playing with the campers. All of our staff and counselors have a passion for nature, animals, outdoor recreation, and science, as well as a desire to educate today’s youth.

Who do you hire and how are they trained?
We screen many applicants and only hire the most qualified outdoor-loving and kid-centric counselors. Counselors must be at least 18 years old. All counselors undergo background checks and are trained in CPR and First Aid. Our Camp Director and Logistics Coordinators all have Wilderness First Aid training. Our staff does a week-long, pre-camp intensive training that includes in-depth instruction on safety expectations, conflict resolution, child development, and lesson planning.

What is the counselor/camper ratio?
Our counselor to camper ratio varies from 1:5 to 1:8 depending on the camp session. There are always two staff present with every camp group, so our largest group has a 2:16 ratio. We use the camper buddy system so that there are never 1 on 1 situations.
