Key Riding Lesson Information

  • Age: 5+
  • Beginner Riders: all beginners (little to no horse experience) over 7 years old are required to take Basic Horsemanship I prior to riding lessons. It is suggested that beginners ages 5-6 years old enroll in a Pony Tails course prior to riding lessons. 
  • Adult Attendance: children must be accompanied by an adult at riding lessons; one adult may accompany more than one child.
  • Weight Limit: Our horses can accommodate riders up to 235 lbs.

Lessons must be used within 90 days from date of purchase. No exceptions.

  Private Riding Lessons

The low-distraction environment paired with individual attention will propel your horsemanship and riding skills at a rapid pace during this one-hour lesson. Riders, ages 5 to 99, can choose between Western or English lessons depending on your interest. Email Carly Steiger to schedule.

  Group Riding Lessons

Group riding lessons, ages 7 and up, are offered in one-hour time slots. See below for available times and registration. 

If you have a group of two or more riders and the below time slots below do not work for you, please email Carly Steiger to schedule directly through an instructor.

More Riding Lesson Information

  • What to Wear: Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes (preferably boots with a small heel). Dress appropriately for the weather, layers are recommended.
  • Weather Policy: Horse programs run rain, snow, or shine (with the exception of severe weather, unsafe arena conditions, or thunderstorms). Lessons missed due to weather will be rescheduled. 
  • What to Bring: a full reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure.
  • Location: Backcountry Outdoor Center Horse Corrals; 6005 Ron King Trail, Littleton, CO 80125. Click for map and direction
  • Refund Policy: Refund requests will be honored up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled riding lesson minus a $5 processing fee. No refunds are given for 4-packs of riding lessons once the first lesson has been used.
