This class incorporates a variety of equipment not typically used in other group fitness sessions, including sled pushes, TRX, battle ropes, landmine rows, and rowers. The Zone offers an intense, challenging experience designed for those ready to push their limits and take their training to the next level.

Myzone monitors automatically connect to the screens during class and can also sync with your phone via Bluetooth for use outside the studio. Using a heart rate monitor is optional. Many participants track their workouts with personal devices like Apple Watches. Tracking is not required to participate in class.

What is personal training, and why would I need it?

Personal training is one-on-one coaching with a certified trainer to help you reach your individual health and fitness goals. Trainers create a program tailored to your needs and provide real-time feedback to ensure proper form and reduce the risk of injury. Personal training is ideal for beginners, those with specific fitness goals, or anyone looking for accountability to achieve results.

Do you offer training for more than one person?

Yes! We offer semi-private training for two people and small group training for three to five. You’ll need to bring your own partner or group. For the best experience, participants should share similar fitness goals and levels, and everyone should be able to commit to a constant weekly schedule set with the trainer. If your schedule tends to vary, one-on-one training may be a better fit.

How do I get started with a personal trainer?

Complete the Request a Trainer form on our website.

After submitting the form, you’ll receive an email from Cody Volkel with new client paperwork. Complete and return the paperwork to Cody to be paired with a trainer.

Are there age restrictions for training?

Participants must be aged 13+ to personal train.

Do I need to complete any paperwork before training?

Yes, all new clients are required to complete the HRCA New Client Packet. This form helps us understand your goals, fitness needs, and availability so we can match you with the trainer best suited to you. It also confirms that you are medically clear to exercise. In some cases, a doctor’s medical release may be required to ensure our trainers are aware of any limitations and to support your safety and our liability requirements.

Can I choose my trainer and training location?

Yes. You can request a specific trainer, as well as preferred locations and times, in the New Client Packet. This information is used to pair you with a trainer who matches your availability.

You can view our current trainers and learn more about them on our website.

Please note that not all trainers are currently accepting new clients, which is indicated in their bios. If you’re unsure which trainer is the best fit for you, Cody can help guide you to the one who aligns best with your goals and needs.

Is personal training suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Trainers provide modifications and progressions for all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes.

Do I have to be an HRCA member to personal train at HRCA?

No. Non-members are welcome to participate in personal training. They will pay the guest rate for training packages. They will receive a special Personal Training Membership card, which grants access to our facilities exclusively during their scheduled personal training sessions.

What is the cost of training, and what packages do you offer?

We offer three personal training packages: 3, 6, or 12 sessions. Pricing varies based on age and HOA membership status. The more sessions you purchase —6 or 12— the lower the cost per session.

  • 3-session package: Expires 60 days from purchase
  • 6-session package: Expires 120 days from purchase
  • 12-session package: Expires 180 days from purchase

Notes:

  • Important: Please wait to purchase a package until you have been paired with a trainer and your first session has been scheduled.
  • Packages cannot be purchased online.
  • All packages must be purchased in person at the registration desk of any recreation center.

Each household member must have their own pass; passes cannot be shared.
All passes are electronically loaded to your account.

  • You can view our full pricing on our website.

How long are training sessions?

All personal training sessions are one hour long to make the most of your time with your trainer and work effectively toward your fitness goals.

What should I expect in my first training session?

Your first session is a comprehensive assessment. Your trainer will evaluate your posture, anatomical alignment, and movement patterns to design a program tailored to you. You will also complete your first InBody body composition scan, which takes less than a minute, is non-invasive, and provides detailed insights on muscle mass, body fat, and more. There’s no need to be in a certain shape—come as you are! This assessment serves as a baseline to track your progress throughout your training journey.

What should I wear for my training sessions?

We recommend wearing comfortable, breathable clothing that allows full movement and provides good coverage without frequent adjustment. Closed-toe athletic shoes are required.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

No, all necessary equipment is provided at our facilities. We do recommend bringing a water bottle and a towel for your comfort, if you like.

How often should I train with a personal trainer?

The frequency of your sessions is determined by you and your trainer, based on your availability and budget. We recommend training at least once per week and practicing the exercises provided by your trainer on other days to achieve the best results.

How do I track my progress?

There are many ways to track your progress. You may notice improvements in how you feel, increased strength and endurance in daily activities, and changes in how your clothes fit. In addition, we use the InBody body composition scanner, which provides detailed insights into muscle mass, fat distribution, hydration levels, and more. You’ll use this scanner regularly with your trainer, and your results will automatically sync to an app on your phone, allowing you to monitor your progress over time easily.

What if I need to cancel a session?

If you need to cancel a session, please notify your trainer at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged. Cancellations should be communicated directly to your trainer. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed sessions (no-shows), will be charged in full. This policy helps ensure respect for your trainer’s time and preparation.

Can I switch trainers?

Yes! To ensure a smooth transition, please speak with your current trainer and contact Cody Volkel at [email protected].

Contact Cody Volkel at [email protected] or 303-471-7059.
