Pickleball Class Guide: Find Your Level
Use this guide based on Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) and International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) ratings to choose the right class:
Beginner (IFP 1.0–2.0 | New / No DUPR)
Just starting with minimal understanding of the game.
· Learning rules, scoring, and basic court positioning.
· Introduction to strokes and simple rallies.
Best for: First-time players.
Classes: Intro To Pickleball, PB Beginner 1, Indoor Leagues Beginner 1 Instructional, Socials
Beginner 2 (IFP 2.0–2.5 | DUPR ~2.0–2.75)
Limited experience with early rally skills.
· Can sustain short rallies with similar players.
· Basic scoring and developing consistency.
· Introduction to dinking and net play.
Best for: Players building confidence and control.
Classes: PB Beginner 2, Indoor League – Beginner 2 Instructional, Socials
Intermediate (IFP 2.5–3.5 | DUPR 2.75–3.5)
· Building consistency and understanding of the full game.
· Medium-paced shots but inconsistent direction/control.
· Learning backhand use, dink rallies, and 3rd shot drop.
· Developing court positioning and movement to the NVZ.
· Beginning to vary between soft and hard games.
Best for: Players progressing toward reliable rallies and strategy and match play.
Classes: PB Intermediate 1, Intermediate Skills & Drills, Intermediate Instructional League, Intermediate League, Socials
Advanced (IFP 3.5+ | DUPR 3.5+)
· Consistent, strategic, and competitive play.
· Controlled forehand/backhand with improved depth and placement.
· Developing 3rd shot drop and transitioning effectively to the net.
· Understanding team movement, shot selection, and game patterns.
· Beginning to identify opponent weaknesses and apply tactics.
Best for: League and tournament players (3.5–4.0+)
Classes: Advanced Skills and Drills – 3.5, Socials
Pickleball Socials (Evening/midday, King/Queen of Court): are intended to include all levels of play.
