Learn to Swim - Summer 2020

Learning to swim is an important life skill, and HRCA Learn to Swim Program goal is to develop a child's swimming competency, confidence and endurance in a safe and fun environment. 

Hello HRCA Swimmers,

We are happy to announce our modified swim lesson program is now open for registration. All swim lessons are now one instructor with one swimmer lessons.

  • All swim lessons are ONE INSTRUCTOR FOR ONE SWIMMER for twenty minutes. 
  • Beginner One and Beginner Two Levels Require A Parent In the Water for the Lesson. 
  • Independent Swim Level Classes are one instructor and one swimmer in water for lesson
  • Masked Instructors will be teaching both on deck and in the water for all levels of swim lessons.   
  • Monday-Wednesday, or Tuesday-Thursday sessions will be two weeks for a total of 4 lessons. 
  • Saturday sessions will be one month of one Saturday each week for a total of 4 lessons.

Swim Lessons will be divided into three groups with the instructor both on deck and in the water:

Beginner I - Parent Assisted (Ages 3-5) - For swimmers who require constant assistance and support in the water

  • For swimmers who are preschool beginners or have previously been enrolled in Tadpole or Minnow classes.
  • Class content will focus on bubbles, bobs, floating, glides, and an introduction to beginner freestyle.

Beginner II – Parent Assisted (Ages 5 & Older) – For swimmers who require some assistance and support in the water

  • For swimmers who are school age beginners or were previously enrolled in a Turtle class.
  • Class conducted in the lap pool and will focus on beginner swim skills including bubbles/bobs, unassisted floating & glides, and beginner freestyle & backstroke.

Independent Skills – Swimmer & Instructor Only (Ages 5 and Older)  - For school age swimmers who meet below skill requirements.

  • NEW MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED TO ENROLL: Must be comfortable completing 10 bobs with even air exchange, unassisted front & back float, & beginner freestyle for 5 yards 

This level is for school age swimmers who meet the above skill requirements or prior enrollment in: Frog, Sea Horse, Otter, Sting Ray, Shark, and Dolphin.

  • Class content will be tailored to meet individual goals and will follow similar curriculum to our previous group lessons.

We are working diligently to provide a clean, safe environment for you, but with all things related to COVID-19 there is inherent risk. It is up to you to choose to use the HRCA amenities, knowing that you assume risk when gathering with other people and visiting other facilities.

  • Age Levels: Infant/Toddler: 6 months - 3 years
    Preschool: 3 - 5 years

    Teen/Adult: 12 years and older

  • A great fit for swimmers looking for a new challenge beyond group swim lessons. 
  • Must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke comfortably without stopping. 
  • Four-week program combines the fun and hands-on approach of swim lessons with the structure and technique-focus of coached programs. 
  • Swimmers are prepared for Seahawks Juniors by building endurance and focusing on technique with all four strokes, with an emphasis on freestyle and backstroke, with an introduction to timed sets and swimming terminology.

Inclement Weather Updates
For program cancellations due to inclement weather please check the HRCA website home page for prgram status updates or call 303-471-8942.

HRCA Cancellation, Refund, and Transfer Policy
To cancel a class call 303-471-8858 or the Program Coordinator. All refunds are charged a $5 processing fee. Refunds and class transfers must be requested at least five business days prior to the beginning of the class. Refunds are issued back to the participant in the original tender. Refunds are not issued for inclement weather or for ticketed events.
