Nature is one of the world's greatest teachers! On your child's days outside the "in-school" classroom, let them learn through exploration in our 8,200-acre outdoor classroom. Outdoor science and nature-based projects that incorporate reading, writing, and math will be taught outdoors through hands-on activities like nature mapping, insect/plant study, engineering/building, wildlife habitats, environmental impacts, and more. Each week will be themed and programs will duplicate for the Monday/Tuesday groups and Wednesday/Thursday groups. All Backcountry Wilderness Area programs are open to the public regardless of school district or location.
Afternoon Nature Elective (Fridays, 12:30-3:30 p.m.)
Just because “in-school” time is limited, doesn’t mean that your child should limit their access to learning new skills and exploring different electives! Let your child end their school week with a Backcountry Elective and time to explore, play, and interact with others without a computer screen! Nature Electives will rotate between Survival Skills, Nature Art, Nature Engineering, and Outdoor Science. No two weeks will be the same!
Morning Horse Elective (Mondays & Tuesdays 8:30 am-11:30 am)
Add a healthy dose of science, emotional intelligence, exercise, health care, and fresh air to your student's curriculum with our Morning Horse Elective. Horse care, safety, grooming, herd-dynamics, anatomy, riding, health care, and more will be taught in an outdoor setting through hands-on activities. Each week will have a different focus and programs will duplicate for the Monday/Tuesday groups.
