Conceptual Plan Background

The Backcountry Wilderness Area completed a Conceptual Plan Study in 2016 and 2017 to study the possibilities of adding certain amenities in the Backcountry Wilderness Area. The Conceptual Plan project is the result of years of study, surveys, and reports.

The purpose of the Conceptual Plan was to gather information that will aid in future decisions of what, if any, amenities to add to the Planning Areas of the Backcountry. Information gathered included public opinions and desires, location of amenities, types of amenities, scale of amenities, necessary infrastructure, and estimated costs. The Conceptual Plan focused on adding amenities that the community supports and that further enhances the outdoor recreation and education opportunities that the Backcountry currently provides.

The Conceptual Plan process included four Community Open Houses in order to gather input from residents.
