Backcountry Management

The Backcountry Wilderness Area is 8200 acres or about 13 square miles of open space. In 2006 Shea Homes conveyed 874 acres to the HRCA to build hiking/biking trails; which are the Wildcat Mountain Trail System now. In May of 2009 Shea Homes conveyed the balance of the Backcountry to the HRCA. In August of 2009 the Highlands Point Trail System opened.
