Coached Aquatics - Youth

Competitive swimming is an integral part of HRCA Aquatics. A quality coaching staff and a variety of high-quality programs enable participants to become advanced competitors.

YOUTH COACHED AQUATIC PROGRAMS

Private and Semi-Private Coached Lessons (ages 6+)
Private sessions are coached by certified USA Coaches to help competitive swimmers of any age work on specific skills to build more confidence and gain a competitive edge. Private swim lessons can be offered to swimmers who wish to be video taped both under and above water. Sessions are 30 minutes and offer an opportunity for one on one instruction and flexibility to fit most schedules. Call 303-481-8942 to schedule a private lesson. No refunds for any cancellation made less than 24 hours in advance.

Rocky Mountain Swim Academy (Ages 6-13)
A pre-competitive program that is broken into three groups: Bronze, Silver and Gold. All skills from each group must be successfully completed before progressing into the next group, this often takes more than one session. New swimmers are tested the first day of class and must be able to swim 50 yards freestyle with side breathing and 50 yards backstroke. It is highly encouraged to register for sessions in advance due to the program filling up quickly.

Juniors (Ages 8-12)
A recreational program designed for developing stronger competitive techniques during the off-season. Swim meets may be offered throughout the season. Swimmers with swim team experience must be legal in all four competitive strokes and be able to swim both 200 yards freestyle and backstroke with flip turns. Must also be capable of an adequate dive from the diving block. A gold medal from RMSA is required.

Juniors Elite (Ages 12-18)
A continuation of Juniors focusing on conditioning during the off-season. Swim meets may be offered throughout the season. Swimmers with swim team experience must be legal in the four competitive strokes and be able to swim 500 yard freestyle with flip turns. Must be capable of an adequate dive from the diving block.

HRCA Summer Swim Team

The Highlands Ranch summer swim team is a community-based, family-oriented program established to expose swimmers to the benefits of competitive swimming. It emphasizes sound skill development and good sportsmanship in a fun and enjoyable environment. All members proudly represent the community of Highlands Ranch through the sport of swimming.

HRCA organizes two summer swim teams: Mountain Hi Swim League (MHSL) and Colorado Association of Recreational Athletes (CARA) League. Swimmers are evaluated and placed in either MHSL or CARA based on their individual skill level. Swimmers must swim a continuous 50-yard legal freestyle and backstroke. The number of participants in the program will be limited by available pool space and appropriate skill level. First priority will be given to current participants in the HRCA coached aquatic programs.

CARA (Colorado Association of Recreational Athletes) League: A more recreational based summer swim team, swimmers compete from May through August.

MHSL (Mountain Hi Swim League): Swimmers compete by age group in the A division from May to July in the most competitive program.
