Stir up some fun in the kitchen with the HRCA's cooking classes.  Learn how to make exciting and tasty dishes while enjoying quality time with friends or family.  Don't forget to bring an appetite!

The Recreation Center at Southridge boasts a beautiful teaching kitchen, and the HRCA is making delicious use of it by offering a variety of cooking classes for children and adults.
 

 Youth Cooking Classes:

Classes run each month: Price for member $45/program guest $59

Book Bites - Mom and Me Classes (ages 3-5)
It's okay to play with your food! Parent and child will listen to a story book, and then collaborate on a new delicious edible creation every week based on the theme of the books. Basic kitchen safety will be covered and we will introduce your child to new exciting ingredients they're sure to love.
Fridays, August 6-27, 10:30- 11:30 a.m.

Kids rule the Kitchen (ages 5-7)
Each week students will rate the current week's recipe based on taste, nutrition, and enjoyment, and vote on the next week's project.  Learn basic kitchen safety, nutrition and cooking techniques while creating tasty, healthy dishes.
Fridays, August 6-27, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Wide World of Food (ages 8-12)
There is more to yummy food than pizza and french fries! Our talented chef will introduce your child to delicious new ingredients from around the world and teach them how to make easy, tasty dishes using them.
Mondays, August 2-23, 4:30- 5:30 p.m.

"Right Bites" Classes
The following classes are fun mini-editions of our month long cooking classes.

Right Bites - Mom and Me (ages 3-6)
With the help of our cooking teacher, kids will lead their Grown-ups in making fun healthy snacks.  We will emphasize teamwork, sequential direction following, kitchen safety, nutrition, and fun!

Fiesta Night - Thursday August 12, 3:30-4:30p.m.
Crazy Cookies - Thursday August 26, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Right Bites (ages 7-13)
Each time we meet we'll make two recipes featuring the theme food or topic. Recipes will be easily recreatable with parental supervision. Kids will get a copy of each recipe.

Crazy Cookies - Thursday August 26, 5:00-6:30 p.m.

Adult Cooking Classes

Stir up some fun with the HRCA's cooking classes! Come to the beautiful Southridge Recreation Center kitchen and learn to prepare  exciting dishes from across the globe while enjoying quality time with friends and family. In each class we will prepare a full meal utilizing recipes and ingredients from the theme country.
Price: member $55/program guest $72
Tour of Asia - Thursday, August 5; 6:00- 9:00 p.m.
Baking - Thursday, August 19; 6:00-9:00 p.m.
